Our 2024 LiA Program is in Week 8 right now! Every week, our student leaders are learning from incredible community figures and meeting with groupmates to discuss their civil liberties projects. They are now in the home stretch! It's been a pleasure to personally see how far our cohort has come since Week 1, and we hope you all can join us to hear about their inspiring endeavors and group projects.

You are invited to our Week 10 Culmination Ceremony on March 30 at the Aratani Central Hall in the Japanese American National Museum from 1-4PM!

Kodomo no Hi, meaning Children's Day in Japanese, is a national holiday celebrated in Japan (on 5/5) that honors the strength and happiness of children! Little Tokyo will be hosting a huge family-friendly celebration on May 4th, 2024! This year, the JACCC & Terasaki Budokan will be collaborating to bring the biggest and best Kodomo no Hi event yet! Please watch out for more updates.

Community News!

Experience the art of play at Asobi at JANM, our new series once a month where local artists showcase their unique work through interactive demonstrations and every guest goes home with a new art piece and sense of accomplishment. 

For our inaugural event, join Barbara Sueko McGuire of String Theory to create mini lotus cross-stitches. Follow Barbara’s pattern and use your own creativity to make your own handmade, one-of-a-kind piece that is perfect for sprucing up any wall.

Enjoy food from East Los Musubi and drinks from Sanzo and Brewyard Beer Company, available for purchase.

 

Are you an English-speaking Japanese/Japanese American ages 18-40? Join this series of six in-person discussion groups to share your experiences. Group discussions will focus on healing from experiences with race, including but not limited to discrimination and hate. No prior knowledge or experience is required to participate!

 

SAVE THE DATE! Delicious Little Tokyo returns on Saturday, May 4th with walking food tours, workshops, and free activities for all ages.
